Smell Slight smell of aniseed or almonds becoming unpleasant with age. 
Gills White/grey at first turning pink to dark brown. Crowded. Not joined onto the stem. 
Spore Print Brown. Ellipsoid. 
Stem White/cream and covered in floccules. The stem tapers towards both the cap and base. 
Cap Convex opening out flat becoming scaled and splitting at the edges when mature. Off-white with a pale yellow or brown flush. 
Flesh White and firm, flushing slightly red/pink in the stem when cut. 
Habitat Pastures, lawns and anywhere grassy. Growing in rings or sometimes individually. 
Taste Mushroomy. 
Possible Confusion The Yellow Stainer, Agaricus xanthodermus but it stains chrome yellow when bruised or cut and smells of Indian ink or Agaricus pilatianus which also stains yellow and smells of carbolic. Both do not smell edible. Can loo
